How does “Edit existing” work?
PDFs don’t store editable paragraphs — text is fixed glyphs in an embedded font, so it can’t literally be re-typed in the file. So this tool finds where each word sits, and when you click one it automatically covers the original and drops an editable box pre-filled with that text in roughly the same place and size. You just change the words — the closest thing to true in-place editing that works safely in a browser.

Can I edit the original text in a PDF?⌄
PDFs store text as fixed glyphs, not editable paragraphs, so the original words can't be re-typed in place. The reliable way to edit is to white-out the old text and type new text on top - which is exactly what this tool does, and how most PDF editors work.
How do I add text?⌄
Click the Add text button, then click anywhere on the page to drop a text box and type. Drag it to position it, and change the size and colour from the toolbar.
How do I replace or hide existing text?⌄
Choose White-out, click to drop a white box, drag and resize it to cover the old text, then add a new text box on top with your replacement.
Are my files uploaded?⌄
No. The whole editor runs in your browser with pdf.js and pdf-lib, so your PDF never leaves your device.
